Affirmative action in the blogosphere?

Debbie Weil has an interesting commentary on The importance of non-male, non-white bloggers which I hadn’t thought about till now. I link to anyone who has a good post or idea, so I don’t think discrimination is much of an issue, not in South Africa at least. I think the female bloggers don’t get exposure because most of the biggest blogs are run by men, who only link to other big blogs, which are generally run by men. It’s not a case of men discriminating against women from what I can see.I think the playing field will even out soon; now that the software is easy to use the blogosphere is growing exponentially, so it’s a lot more difficult to make a name for yourself, but it’s so much more worthwhile if you do.
