You don’t always need exotic science to come up with life-enhancing inventions. Case in point is Mohammed Bah Abba’s pot-in-pot rural fridge. The idea is simple, you put a smaller pot inside a larger pot with wet sand between them, cover it with a wet cloth, and the evaporation draws out heat. All that’s required to run it is a little extra water now and then. So now the market traders can keep their goods fresh for up to three weeks instead of three days in subtropical Africa.
