Wall of plants as building air filter

biowall filter systemThe three-storey wall of plants in the IL Centre of Queen’s University is not just an aesthetically-pleasing feat of clever gardening, it also filters out carbon dioxide and volatile organic compounds as fans suck air through the wall into the offices behind. Natureaire designs these self-repairing, self-rejuvenating air cleansers to last at least 20 years, and because the contaminants are broken down there are now hazardous filters to clean out. A great idea and it looks fantastic; hopefully we’ll see more of these in office buildings soon!
